The Q Gathering begins tomorrow in downtown Chicago's historic Civic Opera House. Really wish I could be there. 25 presentations, 18 minutes or less, on the biggest issues impacting the church's role in society. Theologians, writers, artists, scientists, pastors and leaders presenting one provocative thought to inspire dialogue and action. This is the Christian version of TED (price tag and all).
But if I could only pick one presentation it would definitely be this one:
Conversations on Being a Heretic
Scot McKnight interviews Brian McLaren
It’s no secret. Some Christian leaders have been adamant, and others speculative, that Brian McLaren’s views are heretical. In this Q conversation, Scot McKnight will explore what all the outrage is about, asking Brian to clarify his views on matters consequential to theology and the church. Brian will have ample opportunity to respond to questions he’s never before answered as the two model civility in a discussion with serious implications.
Wish I could be a fly on the wall.
definitely.
can't wait to read the tweets and eventually see the videos posted :)
lets save up, and in 10 years we can go to this conference as a staff. hahah

I thought this post was going to relate to McDonald's. Boy was I wrong.

I sat at a bible college and listened to Brian McLaren give a talk that - in my understanding - was not heretical at all.
However, there was a line out the door during Q&A and 80% of the questions were attacking him for some problem with his theology (which was not the topic of his presentation).
He's SO polarizing.
