This week I will be sharing a number of strategic actions we plan on taking as a Launch Team as we prepare for our Opening Day - September 13th, 2009.
The second stage for our Launch Team will be Organizing to Serve.
This stage will involve aligning our church’s resources with our mission and vision. In this stage we will begin to identify the gifts, talents and passions of our Launch Team and spend time training members as servant leaders to connect to our community.
There are a number of strategic projects we’ve identified…
- Kids Against Hunger - we will gather to package and ship life-saving meals to starving and malnourished children in developing countries and the United States.
- Hope Ministries - we will gather to help prepare and serve meals at the Hope Café.
- Wildwood Hills Ranch - we hope to begin an ongoing partnership with Wildwood whose mission is to transform lives and strengthen communities by providing healing, hope, and God's unconditional love to children and youth at risk.
- Prayer & Fasting Retreat at Wildwood Hills Ranch - a weekend of prayer and reflection.
- 80/35 Music Festival - an open-air, multi-day festival celebrating music and culture in the Western Gateway Park. We hope to participate, serve and promote our new church.
- Des Moines Arts Festival - the signature arts and culture event in Iowa, with an annual attendance exceeding 200,000 people. We hope to participate, serve and promote our new church.
Those of us who are starting this church hope to continually grow in loving God, loving others and our world. We believe that as we move to Des Moines, build relationships and serve the community, people will begin to identify us as a church that truly loves God and loves people. Our prayer is that as people are drawn in by our lifestyles and how we share life, they will begin a journey toward loving God and loving people. And, thus, we will join God’s renewal one life at a time.
