I am really excited about a couple of new albums from some relatively unknown artists from Minneapolis that I also happen to know personally (are you still following?).
The first is Truce by the Bill Mike Band. This amazingly talented trio is comprised of Bill Mike on guitar & vocals, Chris Morrissey on bass and the most extraordinary and gifted drummer I have ever seen or heard, who also happens to be my cousin, Steve Goold.
Steve describes the band as, “Zeppelin meets the Police meets Rush meets Rage Against the Machine.” The band's first album was enjoyable, but the two tracks they have up on their MySpace page are incredible. By the way, if you are in the Twin Cities area, be sure to check out their CD release party tonight at the Cedar Cultural Center.
The second is The Silver City by Jeremy Messersmith. I remember watching Jeremy tear-it-up at Oak Hills Church back in the day. This is Jeremy’s second full-length release and was masterfully produced by Grammy Winner Dan Wilson (Semisonic). This is a gorgeous record and I honestly cannot stop listening to it.
Check out “Miracles” below and you’ll see what I mean.
Thanks for the shout-out, cuz. Whens #3 hitting the scene?
