I am in Springfield, Missouri for the next two weeks taking some classes at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. About six months ago I received a letter from the General Council inviting A/G seminarians studying at variety of seminaries around the country to this conference. We are taking two classes, this week A/G History and next week Pentecostal Theological Perspectives.
There are 43 seminarians here from all across the country (Fuller, Princeton, Ashland, Regent, Denver, Bethel and others). It’s been great getting to know each other. We each bring unique perspectives but have all come from common a Pentecostal heritage, which is rare. So far, I have been really impressed by the other students, the faculty, and everything I have experienced at AGTS.
I grew up in and was recently ordained by the Assemblies of God, but I am really looking forward to exploring our history and beliefs in an academic setting. Just like everyone who ever went through seminary, I have a lot more questions now then when I started, so studying down here for two weeks (without the kids) should be really helpful.
By the way, if you are affiliated with the A/G or have some questions about it, I am going on a retreat with the executive leaders this weekend and need to come up with some good questions to ask them, so let me know.
