Just wanted to give a little update on our missions program here at Oak Hills Church. Last year we did our first ever project/trip combo and were able to raise almost $20K for additions to a Bible School in Argentina and then sent a team of 14 down to complete the work. We worked with Rocky and Sherry Grams and had a wonderful experience.
This year we are doing a project/trip with ENLACE in El Salvador. This is an absolutely incredible organization that links (enlace en espanol) the local church with it's surrounding community in an effort to share the gospel and eliminate poverty.
ENLACE believes that the effective demonstration of Christ’s love is an essential and integral part of the proclamation of the church. All of their programs and projects are managed with the vision of equipping churches to become servant leaders who transform their communities and equip others to do the same. Here is a quote from their website:
"Spiritual and material poverty are the product of fragmented relationships between God and humankind. God commissioned the church as an agent of transformation in the world that should help to restore people to a right relationship with God and to a right relationship with one another. As people come into peace with God through Jesus Christ, true community is created where people serve sacrificially, broken relationships are restored, and physical poverty is addressed."
We are hoping to raise $30K to build a water tank in a rural community with no access to clean water. We had our first info meeting last week and 45 people showed up!
If you are a part of the Oak Hills Church community, and you have any interest in going on this trip, send me an email, paul.stewart@oakhillschurch.net.
