At Gateway, our goal has always been to become a part of the emerging cultural fabric of downtown Des Moines. To be a part of the conversation. To live the teachings of Jesus in the culture and context of our city.
One of the ways that we dreamed of doing this was by creating a cultural center downtown. A safe place within the city to guide people into a relationship with God while bringing the community together through music, art, coffee and conversation.
In the Spring of 2010, we located some warehouse space and began conversations with the building owner. While initially this appeared to be a good fit, this is no longer the case and we have sensed God leading us to put this dream on hold… for now.
But just as God closed this door, He opened another!
Some office space has just opened up on the third floor of The Temple for Performing Arts - which just happens to be the same building we hold our church gatherings in on Sunday mornings. We believe this is a huge opportunity for our new church!
This will provide our staff with a place to collaborate, dream and execute the mission of The Gateway Church. A place to provide prayer and counseling to our church and our community. It will also give us additional access to the building on Sunday and Wednesday evenings for Bible studies, worship gatherings, recovery classes and leadership meetings. Most importantly, it will help Gateway establish a more permanent presence in the heart of downtown Des Moines.
As Gateway continues to grow, we believe this is a crucial ‘next-step’ for our church, but we need your help to take it. Click HERE to find out more.
